New Google Home devices
The four new devices announced today were to the Google Home devices portfolio today: the Nest Cam Indoor (3rd gen), Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd gen), Nest Doorbell (3rd gen) and the next generation of the Google Home Speaker. These four devices were announced nearly a month after Made by Google but were part of a highly desired refresh of the assistant line up after several years of fledgling sales numbers.
The security devices are the centerpiece of this launch, featuring a significant optical upgrade that enables the cameras and doorbell to deliver a crisp 2K resolution. This leap in image quality translates directly to superior clarity, providing the fine detail necessary for more precise alerts and allowing for meaningful digital zoom without losing crucial information.
Complementing the resolution boost are a wider field of view to minimize blind spots and enhanced low-light sensors that provide clear, detailed footage around the clock. However, the true intelligence of the new camera lineup lies in its integration with Gemini AI. This allows the devices to process video in real-time, accurately distinguishing between people, packages, animals, and vehicles.
The result is a smarter security system that dramatically reduces irrelevant notifications. Paired with the new speaker, this launch offers a more powerful and cohesive smart home experience, from advanced visual monitoring to integrated audio.
Google Home speaker marks a significant milestone as the company’s first to feature native Gemini support right out of the box. The hardware performs much of the same fucntionality as previous Nest speaker devices but also support features like Gemini Live.
The design incorporates immersive 360-degree audio, an interactive light ring for visual feedback, and a physical toggle for user privacy. Beyond its standalone capabilities, the speaker helps create a true home theater experience. When paired with a second unit and Google’s TV streamer, it finally unlocks the long-awaited feature of spatial audio, delivering an immersive soundscape for your TV content.
Google has launched its new smart home hardware, led by the Nest Cam Indoor ($99.99) and Nest Cam Outdoor ($149.99) which became available on October 1st in the US, Canada, and select international markets, alongside the Nest Doorbell ($179.99) for the US and Canada. Looking ahead, the lineup will be joined by the new Google Home Speaker, which is slated for a wide international release in Spring 2026 for $99.99. The accompanying Gemini for Home software features for the new Nest devices will roll out first in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia, with an expansion to other regions planned for early 2026.
Gemini for Google Home, coming October
Google is officially beginning to phase out the Google Assistant, introducing its replacement, Gemini for Google Home, with previews starting in late October 2025. The company did not however, announce a timeline for a complete rollout plan outside announcing the preview.

New cloud services for consumers were also announced alongside of the new devices, including what is now being dubbed Google Home Premium. This new service, which is sometimes paired with a Google One Subscription, is meant to replace the former Google Next Aware subscriptions with new Gemini for Home capabilities. The subscription comes in two variants:
The Standard Plan ($10/month or $100/year) offers features like Gemini Live for hotword-free conversations, Ask Home for automation help, 30 days of video history, and intelligent camera alerts.
